Winter Winds | May 2023

The wind outside brushes tree branches against the Scriptorium's arched windows. You to bristle at the thought of being out in the cold, but a glance toward the room's large crackling hearth eases your mind. You could move closer, gather those books from the desk and make yourself comfortable in one of the armchairs. There is nowhere to be, nothing to fix and no one to worry about. You can stay here as long as you like.

Dearest Adventurer,

Though we are nearing the end of May, there is still lots to talk about! We've slowed down in the studio a little more than planned, as wedding planning has become more consuming than I thought it would! This will be a less structured post - a rambly studio update if you will.

I am getting married on June 17th, and have been trying to prepare myself and the business for a week off.

Naturally with times of change and transition like this, I've also been thinking a lot about streamlining and improving our processes and offerings here at Lost World Candles. This means we may be changing some of our packaging and labels soon, discontinuing products and offering more new treasures.

For now through the end of May though, we are preparing our Winter collection. We've decided to open up Winter preorders for members tomorrow night until Sunday night. The collection will release to the public on the 1st June

Your Winter favourites will be returning, including:

  • Yule: Orange, Cinnamon & Honey
  • Baba Yaga: Birch Sap & Sugar Cookies
  • Sirius: Leather & Plum
  • Holly King: Balsam Fir, Spruce & Holly
  • IX. The Hermit: Ebony, Black Tea & Myrrh

We'll be adding Mulled Wine to our wax brittle collection, retiring Maple Pumpkin Spice until October, and if we can get our hands on our amber jars we will bring The Tavern and Harvest Dawn back through Winter. They didn't get nearly enough time in the sun this Autumn, and we'll be glad to have them stick around a little longer.

Lastly, our friend Natasa has been rather busy! We will be attending a medieval fair together with our husbands in July and its given her the opportunity to create more of the magic you saw in our Dark Harvest collection.

Natasa has quickly become a creative ally to Lost World Candles, and we find ourselves having "studio days" together frequently to create - expect to start seeing and hearing a lot more of her. Absolutely all plant matter you see in the above has been sustainably foraged or homegrown and we're really hoping to stock more of Natasa's lovingly crafted magic on the website in the future.

With that, I'll leave you to peruse the Scriptorium at your leisure. Please do keep warm and safe.

Blessings,
